About Us
The Eau Claire Commericial Dartball League plays Thursday evenings beginning at 7:30pm. All games are played at the American Legion Post 53 in Eau Claire, WI. The league supports 16, 4-man teams and about 60-75 players who come from Eau Claire and many surrounding communities. We use a 80% handicap system depending on team's run average. League play usually starts at the end of September and wraps up around the end of March. We also host several tournaments in and around the Eau Claire area. Tournaments vary in number of players needed and competition level. A weekly summer league beginning in June and ending in July plays on Wednesday evenings starting at 7:45pm at varying locations. The summer league is a great way to learn to play dartball as there is no weekly committment and teams are drawn weekly depending on the number of participants.
League History
The origin of the Eau Claire Commerical League was somewhere between 1946-1948. Many conflicting reports have made it difficult to pin point the exact year. The league at that time was comprised of six, nine-man teams from the Eau Claire area playing at the Eagles Club in downtown Eau Claire. In 1955 the league moved to the United Rubber Workers Hall Local #19 located at 424 Galloway Street. The league was played on Monday nights starting at 8:00 pm. The league drew its largest number of nine-man teams to date in the 1971-1972 campaign with twelve. By 1978, the league had shrunk to nine teams and moved to its present location at the American Legion Post 53 on Water Steet. League also moved from Monday nights to Thursday nights. Nine man teams continued until the 1983-1984 season when the switch was made to four man teams. Fifteen teams in two divisions toed the line that inagural season. By 1991 the league was down to eight teams and played all in one division. With the addition of some "young blood" in the mid 1990s, the league again grew to twelve teams in one division. During the 1999-2000 season the league again split into two divisions supporting seven teams in each division. 2008-2009 saw a one year experiment of going back to one league, but it was unsuccessful and returned to two divisions in the 2009-2010 season. That as well only lasted one year and the league was back to one division in the 2010-2011 season. The league again split to two divisions for the 2013-2014 season with four teams in "A" and ten in "B".The league seems to have currently rejuvinated itself and is up to 16 teams playing in one division with a 80% handicap system.
